The aim of SEND Consultancy Service is to work in partnership with schools and colleges to ensure that children and young people have their needs met and that they can progress and flourish.
Skills and experience
By using the SEND Consultancy Service you will have access to people who have a full and complete understanding of both the SEND legislation and associated guidance, and clear insight into local
authority processes and practices. For example, Annette has:
- 18 years experience in SEN as parental advisor and LA officer
- BA (Hons) Social Policy 2:1 and MEd (SEN) Distinction level
- Insight to challenge LA decisions
- Dealt with in excess of 150 SEND Tribunals.
Services to schools and colleges
SEND Consultancy Service can take the burden off school/college staff, because we know the SEND system so well. In the light of this we can offer the following services and benefits;

- Advice via email
- Face-to-face meetings
- Checking and/or completing paperwork for Education Health and Care (EHC) need assessment requests, EHC Plans, Transfer Reviews, Annual and Interim Reviews
- Conducting reviews for Transfer Reviews, Annual and Interim Reviews
- Support in challenging decisions; for example, refusal to carry out a EHC needs assessment or to issue a EHC Plan, content of EHC Plans or placement disputes.
- Training in aspects of the Children and Families Act (CFA) 2014, SEND Regulations 2014 and SEND Code of Practice 2015.
- Checking and completing paperwork for Education Health and Care (EHC) need assessment requests, EHC Plans, Transfer Reviews, Annual and Interim Reviews.
- Support in challenging decisions for example refusal to carry out a EHC needs assessment or to issue a EHC Plan, content of EHC Plans or placement disputes.
SEND Consultancy Service believe that they may be able to enable schools and colleges in gaining increased financial support from the LA.
